Breast Cancer Awareness | There is a Cure
In 2007, it is estimated almost 150,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed. This adds to the large number of women who have already been afflicted with this deadly and difficult disease.
Breast cancer can be fought. My mother, Mildred - now 83 years young, was diagnosed in 1970 and underwent a mascectomy and treatment. In 2000, she was diagnosed again, followed by intense chemotherapy which almost took her life.
For her, and our family, it was a difficult struggle. Though her age made it physically challenging to overcome the pai and therapy, her will and hope kept her strong. For the family, it was painful and difficult to watch her fight and and become increasingly weakened by the disease and the agonizing treatments required to combat the cancer. It was also heart-wrenching for her to lose part of her body.
Always a proud, giving person (an orthopedic nurse), she was reduced to near death - sickly and weak. But, her desire to fight and beat breast cancer was considered the pivotal element in her recovery.
Her life is better now. Mentally strong, but aging, she looks forward to quality life with her friends and family. The impact her breast cancer has had, however, has changed her significantly.
Breast Cancer Awareness has increased dramatically in the past ten years. Research, development of new, more effective treatments, but most importantly, cures and identification of causes has accelerated. But the fight is not over. It is safe to say everyone of us will be affected at some point - either directly or indirectly.
It is important we all support research for cures, treatment and diagnosis. Skinenergizer.com, through its association with Caren et Sie products, contributes a portion of all sales of Caren products to cancer research.
