Tanning Products and Lotions | Get Ready For the Sun!
Spring Break, the summer, time at the beach, and outdoor activities are at our steps and we are preparing by selecting skin care tanning products for safe, effective tans.
Tanning lotions, sprays, protection gels and emollients have developed over the past few years to give customers options as well as increasing protection from sun damage…while providing luxurious, deep tans. Recently we have seen photo-typical sunscreens and lotions begin combining with anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, and body firming skin care to create hybrid products that not only encourage, safe, effective tanning, but promote healthy skin.
Many of the products that have been formulated have sprung-up from the very popular use of tanning beds and salons. Technology in salons has migrated from “searing” beds with lined lights to advanced beds having specifically produced lighting for a variety of tanning needs, to spray containment allowing customers to develop tanning effects with exposure to UVA or UVB. Therein lies the justification for the basic tanning products we see today. One, sun less tanners, self-acting tanners, and bronzers have been formulated to accelerate or act as a substitute for sun or bed tanning. They have come along way since the ‘60’s when skin often was left with a dark (artificial) orange hue after application.
Many manufacturers have segmented products to provide varying density of tone, variation of color, and a wide variety of fragrances. As mentioned, many of these products now taut anti-aging, body firming, antioxidant, or anti-wrinkle properties as important considerations when considering which tanning lotion to consider.
Second, outdoor tanning products continue to focus on UVA/UVB protection and recovery from sun and photo-damage. Many suntan lotions and sunscreens contain Aloe Vera, Emu Oil, Green Tea, Tea Tree oil, hyaluronic acid and SPF protectors to stave-off damage and heal sun-damaged skin while simultaneously offering deep, dark, healthy tans.
